Currently, Jalin has been invited to play for Savion Glover in San Francisco and Los Angeles in the spring Savion has created a group expressly with Jalin in mind called Savion Glover featuring the OutKnightz.
Jalins’ star is definitely rising and we look forward to following his
rise and watching his career flourish.
Arts High School in Newark, New Jersey
2019 Scholarship Awarded to Mr. Jalin Shiver
As a 1963 graduate of Arts High School in Newark, New Jersey, Anthony harbors a fond regard for this illustrious institution. Being a musician himself, and as a tenor saxophone player, Anthony’s wish was to grant a scholarship to a deserving saxophone student pursuing higher education.
That wish was fulfilled this year in the name of Jalin Shiver, a committed, passionate and talented saxophone player who graduated Arts High in 2019. Jalin is a very dedicated academic who will be attending New Jersey City University this fall majoring in music.
Anthony’s foundation has provided Jalin with a scholarship that will help him realize his dream of getting his music degree and achieving his goal of becoming a musician. Jalin and his family are so proud of his wonderful accomplishment. His passion for music and his humility and extraordinary talent served as a model for other students. In addition to the alto and tenor sax, he is learning to play the flute and clarinet. He has also performed at the Kennedy Center and has participated in jazz programs at NJPAC Center and the Berklee School of Music Summer Program.
The Anthony M. Fernicola Foundation is proud to have such a gifted and capable and deserving young man as a recipient of this scholarship.
For many years, Anthony M. Fernicola foundation has sponsored A 5K “Run To Hear” race held by the Middletown Lions Club Charitable Foundation. This program provides free hearing aids to financially needy individuals in the local community.
To encourage participation from the younger generation, high school and college students were offered scholarship money for their participation in the event. To be eligible for this scholarship, they were required to complete the race and then be entered into a random drawing. The Anthony M. Fernicola Foundation contributed a $1000.00 scholarship in the name of his beloved late mother Josephine Ann Fernicola to the fortunate student.
Since it’s inception, the foundation has provided many deserving students financial support for the continuance of their education. Whether for college or high school, this aid has helped many students achieve their educational goals.
The Anthony M. Fernicola Foundation has funded numerous 529 Advisor-Guided College Savings Programs. Many young children will be the beneficiaries of this exceptional assistance that will be of utmost importance when they reach adulthood and strive to pursue higher education. With tuition costs being so prohibitive, this program will ensure these children a first-class education in whatever field of study they decide to pursue. This is an amazing investment in the future of our young citizens, helping them to realize their potential and securing their dreams.
